About The Candidate

Brian Walter and his childrenI am proud to be the Republican candidate for Councilman of Fanwood. I’ve been an involved citizen of Fanwood for 12 years. Born in Scotch Plains, I attended Coles Elementary, Terrill Middle School, and Scotch Plains-Fanwood High School. After graduating the French Culinary Institute with honors, I returned to Fanwood to start a family and raise my kids in the town I’ve always loved. My wife Rosalina and I purchased a cape cod in Fanwood where we are raising our two boys Damian (8), a student at McGinn Elementary, and George (2).

As a long-time community volunteer I’ve held several leadership roles. I have served as President of the Fanwood Business Association, board member for the Fanwood Community Foundation, and a Founder and President of the Fanwood St. Patrick’s Day Fundraiser which has raised thousands of dollars for Scotch Plains-Fanwood Music Booster and township sports. I have had the honor of volunteering services to the Fanwood-Scotch Plains YMCA, JCC of Central New Jersey, McGinn School, Fanny Wood Day, Center for Hope Hospice, Rotary Club, “Go Red for Women”, Chelsea Senior Living Village, Union County Baptist Church, and American Legion.

My three driving forces are God, my Family, and my Country. It is our duty as Americans to be involved in our community, to protect the weak, serve the less fortunate, and to always work closely with our leaders for the best interests of our community. As councilman I will fight to keep Fanwood flourishing, raise our property values, and create community awareness of our local political decisions. I am looking forward to meeting with my fellow Fanwoodians at upcoming events to discuss all issues that are and will affect our neighborhood community.
